Carlos Celdran’s pioneering work is largely focused on cultural activism and performance art. An established tour guide, he actively works in Intramuros, Manila. As an activist he pushed forward awareness for HIV/AIDS. In late 2010 he was arrested and charged for “hurting religious feelings” in a protest he did in support of Reproductive Health Bill which the Catholic church heavily opposed. Celdran’s artistic practice began at age of 14 as an illustrator and cartoonist. He completed a Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines (PH) in 1996 continuing  his studies with a BFA in Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design (USA) in the same year. His ongoing project is Livin La Vida Imelda, a one-man performance about Manila and Imelda Marcos. He is one of the founders of the Manila Biennale an artist-run exposition which began in 2017.
