MANING by Isidra Reyes
8 AUGUST 2026

  • The life and work of Maning Obregon

Fashion has always been fleeting. Collections end, trends fade, and even the most spectacular runway shows survive only in memory. Yet Obregon understood that the true purpose of fashion illustration was never simply to record what people wore. It was to preserve a moment—to capture movement, imagination, and beauty before they disappeared.

For decades, Obregon’s remarkable story remained hidden, known only to friends, former colleagues, and the pages of aging magazines. Now, it is finally being told.

“Maning,” the first publication dedicated to the life and work of Maning Obregon—written by Isidra Reyes and published by Archivo 1984—brings together the extraordinary journey of the Filipino artist who helped define fashion’s golden age. It deserve a place in both Philippine cultural history and the international story of fashion.

  • The book will be launched on Aug. 8 at Everyday: Archivo 1984 + Hindy Weber in Karrivin Plaza, Makati City—a fitting venue for the occasion. Part retail space, part creative hub, Everyday celebrates the intersection of fashion, art, music, and beauty, exploring the objects we live with, preserve, and treasure.

Because there could be no more appropriate place to reintroduce an artist whose life’s work reminds us that some of the most enduring things are also the most ephemeral.
