Culture and History: Occasional Notes on the Process of Philippine Becoming

A groundbreaking treatise by National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin on how Philippine history and Filipino identity have been shaped by the tools of our native and adopted cultures. Conjoining culture and history to understand the 'nation-in-the-making,' Joaquin challenges traditional views on the Philippine Revolution, explores early feminism and the beaterios, and traces the physical evolution from bamboo houses to stone churches.
