La India Elegante y El Negrito Amante at ilang maikling tula

La India Elegante y El Negrito Amante (The Elegant Filipina and her Indigenous Lover) is a 19th-century comic one-act play written in verse by the legendary Filipino poet Francisco Balagtas. Set in a bustling town plaza during a fiesta, this satirical farce follows Kapitan Toming, an Aeta chieftain desperately trying to win the heart of Menangge, a proud and high-class Tagalog woman. Believing that his natural appearance is a barrier, Toming hilariously dons European frock coats and adopts elite mannerisms to elevate his social standing.
