Of Cocks and Kites

The stories revolve around Kiko, a serial schemer and local "kite" (a sharper or predator who preys on others), and his more practical brother, who serves as the reluctant narrator. In a comedic dynamic reminiscent of a classic comedy duo, Kiko consistently devises supposedly "infallible" schemes to win big at the local cockpit—ranging from using lead-stuffed roosters and mystical talismans (anting-anting) to analyzing legendary folklore. Despite his detailed calculations and foolproof logic, every single scheme spectacularly backfires, consistently leaving the two brothers in financial disaster.
