Retribution and Eight Other Selected Plays

Retribution and Eight Other Selected Plays by Wilfrido Maria Guerrero features a collection of nine works, including the full-length play Retribution. The anthology also draws from Guerrero’s previous collections, 12 New Plays and 4 Latest Plays.

Guerrero’s plays capture a vivid cross-section of Filipino society with sharp wit and cultural insight, using humor and irony to examine moral decay, social divides, and the complexities of urban life. His characters – from simple barrio folk to the elite of Makati – tackle themes of forgiveness, youthful rebellion, and human dignity, all woven into short, powerful narratives. His mastery of the English language allowed him to craft scenes that were both accessible and authentic.
