Written by veteran dissident Cesar Hernandez Lacara (affectionately known in the movement as Tatang) while staying in secret Metro Manila safehouses during the 1980s, this autobiography chronicles a life spent in active resistance. The title refers to the dangerous thrill and strategic necessity of hiding and organizing right under the noses of opposing forces.

Unlike traditional Western autobiographies that focus on upper-class individualism, Tatang's narrative serves as a subversion of the genre—reframing the "self" through the collective struggle of the working class and the Filipino revolutionary movement. The memoir documents his transition from early 20th-century peasant roots to his involvement in the anti-Japanese guerrilla resistance, and later, the underground socialist movement.
