The Printmakers

Fifteen years ago the art of the fine print was practically unknown or largely unappreciated as a major form of expression among Filipino artists. By the time of the seventies, the art had grown to be so accepted that it became possible to hold the first international print exhibition here. Today, printmaking has grown phenomenally and Filipino printmakers have represented their country at the big international exhibitions. And with the establishment of Philippine Centers in several world capitals, the first art exhibits will probably be fine prints by the Philippines' finest printmakers.
